Blast from the Past and Designer Dresses

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

As much as I love blogging, I am not very good about posting. I am absolutely addicted to reading teaching, cooking, and decorating blogs, but let's be honest, Ari is MUCH better about posting. But I am still alive.
This weekend  my husband was forced happy to accompany me on a Goodwill extravaganza. I am on the lookout for a cheap coffee table to refinish. So we crossed the river and first stopped at the Goodwill on Forest Park Ave. We have been there before and were pretty successful, but not this time around...until I found these gems:
A Computer1000?! This thing used to rock my world! It went on every boring softball tournament and road trip until I was about 10. Please tell me that someone else used to own one of these guys! Sadly, it was priced at $6.00. It was missing cartridges and wasn't guaranteed to work so I didn't want to risk the money. I also wasn't about to pay 3.49 for a magic 8 ball that didn't tell me my future.

We left that store empty handed and headed over to Brentwood hoping some rich people had donated some good stuff. I must say that we were disappointed in the furniture but I must  point out that the employees here are super nice! The young girls that work there are so sweet and very helpful! I did spot/try on this dress:
Thrilled to be modeling.

It is the Robert Rodriguez dress from the Neimen Marcus collection at target. This dress was originally priced at $ 99.99.
They had it priced at the Manchester Rd location for 24.99. I didn't know what I should do because that is still a lot of money for a dress. I usually don't pay over $10.00 for a dress at Goodwill.  Granted, it's a designer dress and I could wear it to a wedding this summer, but I called Ari to see if it was a good buy or not. Of course she told me no and reminded me that I will probably see 100 other cute dresses at a cheaper price before July. So, if you think it's worth it, head on over to the Manchester Rd location. They had a handful of dresses in a variety of sizes.

On another note, Ari has returned safely from her trip to Hati. I am hoping she will post pics soon.:)

 Happy Hunting!

I Forgot My Zumba Shoes........

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

.........so I'll update the blog. I got all the way to the Y and was so worried abut remembering socks, that I forgot shoes. Bummer. So I ran into the Goodwill on my way home. Yay! I'm writing this from my phone for the first time, so let me know if it looks weird. This will be a fast post because we are leaving for Haiti late tomorrow night/early Friday morning, so keep us in your prayers! Anyway, here is what I spotted at the GC Goodwill tonight!

The top left picture is a brand new accent chair that was $49.99. It was in the window and it probably won't be there long. The top right picture is a brand new tunic from Target. $3.99. Target must have overstock in Valentine's Day merchandise because they had TONS of bags. Pick up a few in the area! Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!

Please don't take all of the good stuff while I'm gone, but hopefully you'll get out and find some good things this weekend!

*May the odds be ever in your favor*

Clothing Overload

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Could it be? Yes!
I am updating the blog after a much deserved two months off.
I have to say that I like sharing my finds, but I really
don't like taking pictures and uploading them. I don't think
anyone really likes doing that. I was planning on
going out tonight, but the weather has kept me in.
I hate staying in at home. But it's good for our 15 readers out there,
because you get to look at all of my new finds!
*Sorry for the poor picture quality*

Brand new from Target. $2.99

Brand new from Target. $2.99! I think this is a
child sweater but I don't care. I will wear whatever I want
and I don't care how old I am.

I wore this last night and got so many compliments! $3.99.

Kirna Zabete top. $3.99. I saw this at
the Edwardsville Goodwill and it was $2 more there.
I went there last week and noticed that EVERYTHING there
was priced higher than the GC store. I probably
won't be going back anytime soon.

 Kirna Zabete top. $2.99.

OMG. I saw this top at Target a WEEK before I bought it from Goodwill
and it was $24.99. I got it for $2.99!

It still had the tags when I purchased it!

 Old Navy top. $2.99.

This skirt was adorable when I tried it on.
I got it today and I saw several of them.
Check it out if you're in the GC area!
$3.99

 Close up of the print.

Kirna Zabete skirt. This picture kind of sucks,
but it's a really pretty blue. Click on the link if you want
to see a better picture of it. $3.99.

 Kirna Zabete skirt. $2.99.

OMG this dress is cute, cute, cute! It has pockets and
is a really pretty plum color. It was a splurge at $6.99.

It 's still $17.48 online and was originally $49.99!

The GC Goodwill had TONS of these tubs in a bunch of
different colors. I got four of them for $1 each.

And there ya have it folks.
This will probably be my last post for
another two months. Just kidding. But I will
be busy for the next couple weeks because I am going to Haiti on Friday!
I can't wait to go and to tell everyone about it. I am also
thrilled that hockey is back.
Let's. Go. Blues.

Thanks for reading.

Chevron Chairs

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Hello everyone! I know it's been awhile, but we are back! I've been finding tons of stuff but there is one thing that I have to share with you all immediately! If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, sorry I'm not sorry that you've already seen this.

OMG! Lance freaking Bass! He was totally my fave *NSYNCer and I couldn't pass this doll up. If only I had Chris, Justin, JC, and Joey too.

Now for the real finds!

Can you believe these chairs?! I can't either. I don't have room for them at my house but I HAD to get them. My aunt is going to use them until I steal them back :)
They were $35 each and were in perfect condition. No rips, tears, or anything.

Look how much they still are on the website!
$179.99!!!

Here are some other things I have come across recently.

Tons of bedding! All of it is brand new from Target. I seriously don't even go there anymore.

This chevron comforter is reserved for my friend, Whitney. It's still $49.99 on the website.

And here are some pics from meeting the cast of "So You Think You Can Dance", just because I want to share them.

People tell me all the time but they never find anything when they go thrifting.
My biggest piece of advice is to GO OFTEN. If you only go once every couple months, you probably won't find anything. I usually go every Saturday or Sunday, and sometimes both. There have been many times when I don't find anything, and then days like today when I find amazing stuff!

If you like this blog, share our link on your facebook or twitter.
Thanks for reading and happy hunting.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

I went to Target for a lamp....

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Have you ever gone into Target for ONE thing and come out with 13 things you didn't need? That is what happened to me yesterday. About half of my inpulse purchases were from the "deal" section when you first walk into the store. Sucked me right in.
This has nothing to do with this post though. I wanted to let you all know that I am indeed alive. I am actually alive and well. Life has been crazy busy but it the best way possible. I finally got a job! I am now a second grade teacher in an amazing school district. But, back to the deals.

We also bought a house this summer! Which means I now have a reason to spend more money and shop at Goodwill. Here are a few things that I have picked up so far. I wish I had before pictures for you guys because my house doesn't look like much but we have already transformed it quite a bit. It was formally owned by a sweet little old lady who believed in mint green throughout the whole house, borders, and lace. :)

This is our one and only bathroom. The wall you see used to be one solid row of mirrored medicine cabinets.
The cloth shower curtain I picked up at Goodwill for 5.99 which is brand new from Target. Pretty much everything else is from Target....they always win. Wait, the jars on the shelfs are from the dollar store!

My next Goodwill find is hanging in my NOT mint green living room.

I found one panel at the local Goodwill. Sadly after searching a couple of them, I only found ONE. SO I had to bite the bullet and go buy the other one full price for $20.00 at Target. But still, 23 bucks for two curtain panels? I can't complain.

And last but not least, the guest bedroom. I have never had one before, and the only people who come to stay with us our my in-laws. They love the beach, so this room was inspired by them. It doesn't "flow" or match anything else in my house, but I wanted to make it special for them because they are pretty awesome. My husband found these perfect accents at the Eville Goodwill. No he doesn't thrift all the time, he just got lucky.

So there you have it. My house is still a work in progress, but I'm pretty happy with the small things we have been able to do! I have plenty more to post, but I am tired of typing and fighting with this PC. Literally this post took me an hour...Oh how I miss my mac! Hopefully Ari will post soon. Her posts are always entertaining. Till then, happy hunting!

Thrifting Overload

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Oh my gosh. Can you believe I'm writing a new post? Me either. I can't believe summer is almost over. I hate it. School has started for me and I'm so not ready.
I've thought about blogging every night for the last couple weeks.
But I've been....hmmm what's the word.....? Lazy!
Sorry I'm not sorry that I have to sleep for 2 hours after school then eat Jimmy John's then watch "So You Think You Can Dance". Clearly there has been no room for blogging. However, there has been time for thrifting! Let's get to the goods, shall we?

How cute is this owl umbrella?
It was only $2.99 and is still on the Target website for $16.99. Winning!

I strayed from the GC Goodwill this weekend.
I got this dress at the one in Fairview and it is $44.99 on the Target website. Yours truly got it for a steal for $4.

I don't know what the deal is, but all this brand new wrapping paper was 50 cents, with the exception of the brown one. That one was more than double in length so it was $1.99.

Perfect for me! $4.99. It comes with a belt but I was too lazy to get it.

I took this from the website. Still $24.99!

I'll wear this with tons of stuff.
I was $3, but half off the day I got it, so it was only $1.50!

I just checked the Target website and look! $22.99 to $1.50.

Fun skirt! Only $3!

Perfect pillows. $2.99 each.

I know this dress looks wrinkled, but it is SO cute on. I'm wearing it to Dillon and Vanessa's wedding in a couple weeks. This was $7, but half of when I bought it so it was only $3.50. Boo-ya.

Thanks to our 15 followers out there!
Please share this link on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest if you think it could help people!
I hope you had fun wasting time at work and looking at our precious blog.

I Meant to Post this Yesterday........

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

but the Olympics were on.
And we all know that I accomplish nothing when the Olympics are on.
This will be a short little post but I wanted to share some things
I spotted at the GC Goodwill yesterday.

There were a TON of these little rust colored dresses. I saw sizes 2-14.
They were all spread throughout the dress racks, so if you don't see them right away, you might have to dig a little. I think they had pockets too. But don't quote me on that. You can see the purple dresses on the rack behind the rust dress, and there were a ton of those as well.
All brand new and cost $4.99.

We all know that back to school sucks, but I guess it will be here soon. Boo. There's nothing I hate more than the end of summer. But to cheer you up a little, Goodwill had a TON of spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, and looseleaf paper.  (There was more than what's in the picture) I didn't look through all of the paper, but everything I saw was college ruled. And everything was 19 cents. Brilliant! I watched a LOT of Harry Potter this weekend, and I definitely do not say "brilliant" enough. I need to work on that.

Please share us on facebook, twitter, pinterest, or your blog if you like us!
You can even share us if you think we're stupid.
We're not that picky.

May the odds be ever in your favor.
